How to edit or delete a message
As a user in Ommnio, you should know that you can edit and delete your own messages:
- Text messages can be edited and deleted
- Files (images, videos, audios, etc.) can only be deleted.
When you do this, the message will be marked as "edited" or indicate "deleted message" so that people who read it know what happened. This feature has been available since version 2.7.3, so make sure you have the latest installed version (Android / iPhone).
If you want to know in more detail what users with an administration role can do, you can consult the Editing and Deleting Messages Guidelines.
How to edit or delete your own message?
On mobile 📱
- Tap on the message you want to edit or delete. The following options will appear:
- If you tap "Copy", you can later "Paste" the text.
- If you tap "Edit", the message will open in the text box and you can modify it. Press the send button again. The rest of the members will see the edited message in real time. This option is only available for text messages, not for files.
- Tap "Delete" to completely remove the message.
On web 🖥️
- Hover over the message and click on the small arrow you will see in the top right margin of the text message bubble. You will see that this menu unfolds:
- On the web, you can see who has read that specific message by clicking on "Info".
- The rest is self-explanatory: edit or delete by clicking on the corresponding options.
🔴 IMPORTANT: The messages you write and send are delivered to users' mobile devices with a mobile notification. Therefore, even if you correct a message afterwards, the notifications will have been sent with the first version of the text. However, when the user taps on the notification and reaches the chat group, they will see the updated information with your corrections.
